¿Somos complices de este Genocidio en el Congo?
Oh, ¡la absoluta absurdidad de todo esto! La República Democrática del Congo ha sido bombardeada no una, sino dos veces en la misma semana. ¿Han encontrado alguna cobertura de noticias en sus países? ¿Han encendido el televisor solo para ser testigos del ensordecedor silencio sobre los bombardeos en el DRC?
Permítanme entender esto – 10 millones de vidas extinguidas, 7 millones desplazadas y 1 millón de mujeres secuestradas y violadas, ¿y ni un solo titular para contar la historia? ¿No hay tiempo en el ciclo de noticias para arrojar luz sobre la masacre en el DRC? Realmente estoy al borde de las lágrimas, lidiando con este nivel de deshumanización que se ha vuelto norma. Hablamos de millones sobre millones de seres humanos, ignorados como si sus vidas no tuvieran significado.
Nuestro DEBER moral ante el Genocidio en el Congo
Es de suma importancia, más aún, nuestro deber moral, elevar la conciencia sobre el genocidio en curso en el DRC. Una milicia respaldada por potencias occidentales como EE. UU., Reino Unido, Francia e Israel está masacrando sin piedad a individuos en las regiones orientales del DRC por el simple motivo de apoderarse de recursos naturales.
¿Y qué recursos serán esos, preguntan? ¡Ah sí, los minerales esenciales para alimentar el consumismo insaciable de Occidente! Coltan, cobalto – el alma de nuestros dispositivos electrónicos, coches eléctricos y cada gadget que alberga un ápice de tecnología. Esta demanda insaciable de materiales se extiende a la aeroespacial y tecnología avanzada, todo cosechado bajo condiciones de explotación que incluyen el trabajo infantil. Si estos trabajadores se atreven a protestar su trato inhumano, enfrentan una elección sombría: muerte o violaciones despreciables.
¿Por qué el Genocidio en el Congo no sale en los medios?
Durante años, este ciclo de explotación y violencia ha asolado al DRC. Sin embargo, los medios de comunicación raramente se dignan a iluminar estas atrocidades. En días recientes, hemos sido testigos de la barbarie de la milicia M23, decapitando individuos en el DRC. La población congoleña arde con ira, ondeando banderas quemadas con frustración, protestando contra el ciclo interminable de sufrimiento. La responsabilidad de este genocidio recae sobre los hombros de estas marcas, un agudo recordatorio para reconsiderar apoyarlas.
Boicotear y reutilizar nuestros dispositivos existentes tiene un poder más allá de la medida, como la historia ha mostrado en casos como Palestina, Sudáfrica y los Estados Unidos. Además de boicotear, compartan este mensaje en lo ancho y largo, pues la información en español es escasa. La situación actual en la República Democrática del Congo (RDC) sigue siendo grave, con violencia continua y abusos contra los derechos humanos, especialmente en las provincias orientales de Ituri, Kivu del Norte, Kivu del Sur y Tanganyika. Grupos armados y fuerzas gubernamentales han matado a más de 2,000 personas entre enero y finales de octubre de 2023 en las provincias de Kivu del Norte e Ituri. Los rebeldes del M23, respaldados por Ruanda, han lanzado su mayor ofensiva contra las fuerzas estatales en una década, apoderándose de porciones de territorio en Kivu del Norte y empeorando la situación humanitaria en la región.

El gobierno ha lanzado una subasta para otorgar licencias de explotación a 27 bloques de petróleo y 3 de gas, abriendo aproximadamente 11 millones de hectáreas de la selva tropical a la perforación, lo que podría liberar hasta 5.8 mil millones de toneladas de carbono, más del 14 por ciento de las emisiones totales de gases de efecto invernadero del mundo en 2021.
